Reservations required. Expect talks from the parks animal care experts, new ways to meet and learn about animals, and animal demonstrations in the park’s outdoor venues. The former Tiger Island is now “Cain’s Cub Island.” In addition, the park is going to be offering a bunch of special presentations for the unique event. Starting on July 2 for passholder previews and July 4 to the public, Six Flags DIscovery Kingdom is opening in a limited, animal only, capacity as “The Marine World Experience.” While there won’t be any rides open yet, you’ll be able to get back into the park and visit the various animal attractions, including the new pride of lion cubs that arrived at the park last year. Now the park is going to be getting back in touch with those roots. For people not from the San Francisco Bay Area, or who weren’t alive in the ’80s and ’90s, you might not know that Six Flags Discovery Kingdom started its life as an animal only park called Marine World/Africa U.S.A.
